Wiener Wednesday: Herbed Franks and Rolls (1955)

It’s Wiener Wednesday, bitches!

I found today’s recipe at the retro treasure trove Click Americana in a 1955 issue of Woman’s Day magazine:

Today’s pick is Herbed Franks:

No, not that Herbed Frank.

This herbed frank:

Here’s the rest of the page:

Literally, my only note on this dog: “Are the green onion tops supposed to be in the butter? Or are they supposed to be on top of the butter?”

I split the difference and did both:

These were yummy. But not noteworthy.

Honestly, this is a bit of a lame Wiener Wednesday. So to make up for it, here’s Brian. On a hot dog. In the sky:

  • Now I want to hear the harrowing tale of the woman who "married a popular man."

Also-- Love the picture of Brian!

  • Shocked the snappy frank cheese rolls weren’t chosen— the frank cheese burgers are definitely a bbq flashback, we used plastic wrapped kraft singles. The best.

  • These actually look delish. Those Frank Custard Cups are definitely making an appearance come football season. I love the photo of Brian, he was the most debonair feline.

  • These do look good. I guess another variation of this could be pesto dogs. Those Frank Custard Cups look like they would be tasty as well.
