Wiener Wednesday: Swiss-Frank Roll-Ups

Well, earlier this week I shared with you the New Year’s Eve Bubbly that my mum and I served up at our girls’ party; now I present to you the weenie portion of the party (of course there was a weenie dish!). This is, from Better Homes & Gardens Cooking with Cheese (1968), the appropriately named Swiss-Frank Roll-Ups. Because it’s a tiny Frankfurter with Swiss cheese all wrapped in biscuit dough. Duh.

I don’t know why the recipe wanted me to put the cheese IN the cocktail weenie, but I wasn’t going to question the masterminds at Better Homes & Gardens.

I followed the directions and ended up with a tray of these:

And then after a spell in the oven I ended up with this:

They look a lot like Nic’s British Sausage Rolls (which are divine) and were just as  tasty. I do love me a biscuit-ensconced cocktail weenie (see: Weenie Wreath) but this one was extra-special because of the cheese. Glorious cheese! All wrapped up in buttery doughy goodness. And the sesame seeds made them extra-pretty! This is definitely a winner, kittens. And ridiculously easy. Try it for your next shindig.

  • I left this unread in my bookmarks and only now got around to it, which is unfortunate because I had to take something for a potluck last week and this would have been perfect. Those sesame seeds take it up to the next level visually, I'm really impressed!!!

  • Mmm - they look SCRUMPTIOUS! I am tempted to nip out of work and get me a Gregg's Sausage Roll right now!

  • Oh, sure. You'll whip this up for your mom and your lady friends. But what about me? That dish has Steeler Sunday written all over it.
