Dinner Is Served 1972 is Officially 10!

The 50 Days of DiS1972 countdown is finally over and it’s the official anniversary of Dinner is Served 1972!

Since I began on February 24, 2011:

I have no intention of stopping anytime soon. I still have 54 cards from the 1973 series to complete and an entire library of old cookbooks that haven’t yet been featured on the blog.

I can’t promise ten more years of DiS1972 (we may be destroyed by an asteroid before then) but I do promise that I will not give up until I make the 54 remaining 1973 dinners.

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE! Whether you’ve followed me since 2011 or just popped in once to find a Turkey Devonshire recipe–I thank you.

A hearty thanks to my virtual friends who have taken the time to like, comment, and share; as well as send me photos, recipes, videos (and even cookbooks!) that you think I’d like. Yinz make me so happy!  I love the community we have over on Facebook.

A shout out to all my fellow retro food bloggers, cook-along-ers, and Pieathletes. You are awesome.

I also want to express my deepest gratitude to my parents, who are okay that this is what I’ve decided to do with my degree in creative writing; and to Mr. Sauce, Esq., who continues to eat my cooking even though the food may be a bit cold because I have to photograph it.

I dedicate Dinner is Served 1972 to my beloved Brian Boitano. Every day you are missed.

  1. Happy Blogiversary!! I can’t wait for what is yet to come, I think I’ll go celebrate the occasion with a Bloody Mary or four!

  2. Happy Blogiversary, Emily! You’ve brought a lot of joy, giggles, and “Ewwws” to this reader over the years and I am truly grateful! Here’s to Brian, as you say, “Forever in our hearts.” <3

  3. Have really enjoyed this informative + entertaining blog w its unique narrative + spin 🙂 Love the visual details of meal recreation photos, and callbacks to vintage menus from historic restaurants. Fun stuff.

  4. Happiest of anniversaries! You’ve braved through years of great and questionable recipes (so we didn’t have to) and are still going strong. Looking forward to all the entertaining posts of the future and more DiS 1973 recipes. Huzzah!
