2-in-1 International Recipe Collection: Bronx No. 1 and No. 2 (1977)

How yinz all holding up? Have you lost your damn minds yet?

This morning I realized that I’ve been home for 6 weeks. I’m still deciding how to react to that.

What you been doing to fill the hours (aside from consuming copious amounts of streaming content)?

I’ve actually been doing a little bit of online shopping.

It has been very on-brand with the whole “I’m trapped in my house/working from home” vibe.

  • house shoes (grey)
  • house shoes (black)
  • multi-pack of hair dye in light ash brown
  • le creuset tea kettle in “FLAME”
  • wireless keyboard
  • wireless mouse
  • Australian Dream arthritis cream
  • nighttime wrist braces
  • daytime wrist braces
  • yellow area rug
  • rainbow area rug

Since we have not yet moved into caftan season, I may have to update my wardrobe with some luxury lounge wear.

And what about the rest of my time?

I’m doing what all of us not in recovery are doing: drinking.

But I’m classy and doing fancy drinks!

Bronx No. 1–made with freshly squeezed orange juice:

A delightful little drink. Sweet, but not too sweet. Gin-forward but not too boozy. Probably because the OJ and gin were combined in equal amounts.

Bronx No. 2, also made with freshly squeezed orange juice:

This only had 1/3 a jigger of juice and one and a half jigger of assorted booze.

This, not so good. Too much liquor, not enough juice. And the two vermouths together…it ended up mostly tasting of vermouth. Not a fan.

But I have a fully-stocked bar, so I can, as they say, try, try again.

  1. I like gin and orange juice, but these both sound a little too Vermouthy. The stuffed mushiroomirooms look pretty good, though.

Wish I could send you some of my oranges, or maybe one of my “Frankenlemons” that are the size of a large guinea pig (no fooling!).

    Take care!

  2. I’m definitely doing a lot of spirit imbibation. But, I have a schedule going. Bloodies with Price is Right, beer with Let’s Make a Deal, and martinis with Family Feud! Luckily they all air about 3 hrs apart.

  3. The wrist brace industry is probably getting a real boost! I felt like such like such an old lady ordering mine, but now I feel better knowing you had to get them too.

Talk to me!
