Today we take creme de menthe out for a spin!
I had a bottle in my bar because of 191. Grasshopper Pie from the 1973 DiS cards. And since I made the pie it has sat in the back of the bar with the creme de cacao from the pie as well (creme de cacao is next on my “odd bottles” list).
Like the Mississippi cocktail, this one features gin.
I took notes:
CARUSO. Why named that? Opera singer?***
Mr. Sauce: Not bad. Not good.
Drinking liquor after brushing teeth. It smells of just gin. Only mint on tongue. Now I have to try a gin martini with lots of dry vermouth.
But the color was really something else. The pictures don’t do it justice, but it looked more teal in real life.
Looking forward to trying something else with the creme de menthe, but I won’t be making this one again anytime soon.
Oh my gosh, it FLUORESCES in your first shot! So cool! Gosh, I haven’t had cdm in what feels like forever. My parents also used to put a little on vanilla ice cream. Vanilla ice cream served as the base for a lot of liqueurs in our house — Kahlua was my mom’s favorite.
In other news, I had to pill the foster cat yesterday…and we both lived to tell the tale. š
My mom used to make creme de menthe parfaits (layer vanilla ice cream and c.d.m in parfait glasses and freeze). It was pretty good as I remember.
