My love of the Bisquick Impossible Pie has been documented on this here blog. And the BLT is in my top 5 sandwiches, so I was thrilled to come across this ad:
What a genius idea to combine the two!
Damn thing got rather browned since I used a toaster oven (I refuse to put on my real oven when it gets over 80 and I made this back over the summer)
I tried to get a slice like in the advertisement:
The center is basically swiss cheese (and mayo because I think the bacon floats to the top….? But the edges taste like bread, so that’s where you get your true BLT-action. That is if you get to the end and haven’t eaten all of the B the L and the T.
This was truly an instance when the execution couldn’t match the fabulous idea.
I would NOT make this again.
Damn, Rudy. It’s just not right to drink cider and Smirnoff when it’s 80 degrees…

The idea was so promising! (BLTs are my favorite sandwiches, tied with corned beef Reubens.) That oven shot is giving off German Pancake vibes.
Thanks for the memories. My mom made a lot of Impossible Cheeseburger Pies when I was a kid. I feel like sticking to bacon and cheese might have made this come out better - or you could make an Impossible Bacon Cheeseburger Pie!
I used to work at the local Deaf School where they served TacoBake, which was bisquick, topped with cooked taco meat, some mayo/sour cream/ cheese delight, then diced peppers and onions. I bet 100% someone scaled up a back of the box recipe from the 80's.
