Wiener Wednesday: Stuffed Broiled Frankfurters

It’s another Wiener Wednesday!

Today we go back to the year 1966 and the Woman’s Day Encyclopedia of Cookery. Vol. 5

This volume includes and entire Frankfurter Cookbook.

The Frankfurter is indeed very versatile, Woman’s Day magazine. I concur!

It is the applesauce here that caught my eye. How could it not?

Look at that weird stuffing!

Look at the weird finished product!

Look at how sad the hot dog looks as the mushy apple shit tries to escape its bacon bondage!

Yeah, I was disappointed in this. The bacon was too salty on the frank and the apple flavor was minimal. This reminds me a lot of the Bacon Big Boys that I made back in 2013. But I remember those being better.

Both dogs would have benefited by some smoked Gouda or some cheddar.

OMG. I could kill for some smoked Gouda right now. I really eat too much cheese.

I hope you all have a wonderful 4th of July! If you are scrambling and looking for something good to make for your Independence Day festivities, take a look at these:

Linguine Salad Supreme Light:

Shirley Jones’ Mexicali Corn Casserole:

Watergate Salad:

24-Hour Salad:

I’ll see you next Wednesday for another day of weenies!
