I’ve been intending to make the Velveeta Jellygrill Sandwich for months now.
On my week off, I finally made it.
It was gross. I couldn’t tell if the jelly made the Velveeta too salty or not salty enough.
Regardless of how it did it, the jelly just ruined a perfectly good grilled cheese sandwich (which is in my top 5 of favorite sandwiches), and that made me sad.
Even though got the grill on the bread just how I like it, this was a waste of perfectly good Velveeta.
Chalk this one up as a FAIL.

Honestly I think it’s better as a cold sandwich as the ad offers as an alternative option in the fine print. I finally tried it today for the first time after the recipe spending a long time on my wishlist. I first tried grilled (was kinda just ok) but just tried it cold later in the day and that’s definitely my preferred method. Basically just much saltier version of a cream cheese and jelly sandwich. Might even make myself a second now after downing the first…
Thank you for the review!
I may have to give that a whirl.
I'm a grilled cheese fan too and you got a lovely, toasty crust on that sandwich. Thank you for trying this one so we don't have to. ;)
I've grilled PB&Js and I've grilled other cheeses with jams. Cheddar and apple butter or boysenberry jam is awesome. However, I prefer my "plastic" cheese solo or with a cup of tomato soup (has to be Campbell's made with milk or it doesn't work for me).
An Elvis Sandwich is awesome. That cheddar and apple butter combo sounds legit.
