Happy Lunar New Year!
To celebrate the new year (and my upcoming birthday) Mr. Sauce took me out on Saturday night for Korean BBQ and to see the new Nicolas Cage movie.
If you like Nicolas Cage, horror, camp, and alpacas, boy is this the movie for you! I wouldn’t say that it is necessarily a good movie, but the theater we were in was pretty full and there were lots of laughs to be had. It is funny. We carried on the celebration yesterday. Mr. Sauce made a shrimp/pasta dish with this Pacific Rim mix from the Pasta Palette in Frederick, MD.
It’s spicy.
To accompany the pasta, (and to have for lunch the next day) I made a selection of nibbly bits from Chef Chu’s Distinctive Cuisine of China (1982)
Shanghai Braised Black Mushrooms, Schezuan Cold Cucumbers, Sweet and Sour Cold Radishes, and Marble Eggs:
All of these were extremely easy to make and are all yummy.
I just love marble eggs so much, here’s another picture:
