For some reason, in my Pieathalon Peanuts-and-Beer Pie post, my use of a double boiler just fascinated people. I guess because so few people own them?
Well, this is the one that I actually used to make that pie:
And this is the one that Mr. Kinsey gave me for my own personal use:
Isn’t it the absolute cutest?
And the best thing of all is that it perfectly matches my kitchen, so it has a place of honor on my stove top (also, my cabinets are kinda super-full).
When I moved into my house, I decided to base the entire kitchen around this old Cosco step-stool chair that I got from Avenue Antiques (RIP).
I love it so much that I painted my cabinets to match. And I really get use out of it because my cabinets were mounted so fucking high.
Seriously. Look how high those cabinets are:
What kind of giants lived in this house before me?
There are all kinds of little lemon touches throughout the kitchen–my 1972 hanging calendar poster
And this creepy little chef guy with yellow hair that my friend Kevin gave me for my housewarming party (hence, I call it Kevin).
I wish that I could go all out. Change the linoleum. Get a new oven. I’d love one of these from BlueStar. It’d match my kitchen perfectly.
It has a frickin charbroiler in the middle of it. I WANT IT.
And maybe an orange or avocado fridge. Does someone make those?
Anyway, today Mr. Kinsey and I are packing up his Camry and making a trip to Pittsburgh, Land of Yinzerella. We’re gonna do a lot of touristy shit while we’re there, so there are travel videos on the horizon (yeah, Kennywood!). But, since I’m gonna be away, I’m going to miss the 4th. So here are the few things that I’d post for the holiday:
Deano & Lee getting their stars & stripes on:
Little Edie’s famous flag dance:
And my recreation from Halloween:
See you next week!
I have the same stole in my kitchen though I never use it. I have a step stole so my 5’1″ sell can get all the things I never use on the top shelves. I almost moved in with a guy that was 6’4″ thank goodness it didn’t happen he kept his spices on the top shelf. THE TOP SHELF! Freaking commie.
“Freaking commie.” HA!
Cosco, no t.
ACK! SORRY!
Really cute kitchen and double-boiler, but forget the Bluestar and get yourself a yellow Chambers stove. You could even get the D model if you want to stick with the 70s. With your talents you could redo it yourself; I did and I’m not particularly handy. It’s mainly cleaning.
Loving your dream appliances.
Your double boiler is adorable! Does this mean y’all are going steady? I think it does! Yay, I’m popping the champagne!
The giving of double boilers is a true relationship milestone!
Any exchange of kitchenware is. Ha!
I don’t know the last time I hear anyone use the term “going steady.” LOL. But, yeah, I guess we are!
You make me feel like dancin’!
