According to THIS website, today is LIBERACE DAY.
Now, it’s not his birthday, because that’s on May 16 (remember? I did an entire week of Liberace-inspired dishes). So why would today of all days be Liberace Day?
Oh, who cares? Any excuse to pull out photos of our good friend Lee!
BTW, did you hear that a virtual Liberace is going to play Vegas this year? It’s true. And I am so stoked.
As soon as I get the deets, I am booking a ticket to Las Vegas.
For serious. There will be nothing that can stop me from seeing that.
In the meantime, here’s a super-cute 1968 interview in which Liberace discusses his clothes, being an entertainer, and…government spending?
Being into 1920s movies, I hit onto this which I just had to send you. http://youtu.be/09v5HF2vgCE
Wow, that video. I love the part where he implies he’s on a mission from God!
Ah. What Liberace wants in a woman…heh.
But holy damn, I remember seeing him arrive at the Fox a billion years ago, and it was more exciting than seeing Horowitz’s piano get shipped! (Ah, the 80s! Watching someone arrive at their destination IS educational!)
