Is anyone going to watch the Winter Olympics? I guess I will. I am a fan of figure skating. Although I couldn’t name any of the current skaters. I miss the days of Nancy Kerrigan, Viktor Petrenko, Elvis Sojko, Kristy Yamaguchi, Katarina Witt, and, the greatest skater of all time, Brian Boitano:
No, not that Brian Boitano!
This Brian Boitano:
He was, is, and always will be, the best figure skater in the history of figure skaters. Why? He’s Brian Muthafuckin’ Boitano! His 1988 gold medal winning long program from the Calgary Winter Olympics still holds up.
I can’t get the damn video to embed correctly so click HERE if you want to see the awesomeness.
You want to see something else awesome?
Here is an amazing video (how have I never seen this?) of “What Would Brian Boitano Do?” as performed by DVDA. And it features Brian’s skating. The band footage is from the 2000 Lapdance party in Park City, UT during the annual Sundance Film Festival.
If you watched it, you most likely saw the back of my head. Seriously. I was standing right in front of center stage. It was my 21st birthday. Here’s me and Trey Parker.
Oh! My final submission into the DICED! competition is up. Click on the picture to go see my dessert. The required ingredients were: coffee, bananas, brown sugar and–because I promised it to you–JELL-O. So go check it out. Voting is now open!!! Poll is on the right side of the homepage.
Enjoy the Opening Ceremonies, kittens!
P.S. There is an actual BrianBoitano.com and they sell merchandise. But here is the best part:
This store is the only official Brian Boitano store featuring designs about Brian and skating. This store also has express permission from the creators of South Park to use the “What Would Brian Boitano Do?” tag line.
Ok, I lied. The best part is that I can buy a “What Would Brian Boitano Do?” thong.
Shit. I love the internet.
Have you been keeping up with figure skating? I’ve been obsessed with it since I was a kid. My sister and I would slide on the hard floor in our socks pretending to skate in the kitchen. I was Nancy Kerrigan and she was Tanya Harding–she would hit my leg. Lol
Have you seen the 15 year old Julia Lipnitskaia this year?
I don’t know how you can top this one. Trey Parker AND Brian Boitano? And Jell-O? I’m going to vote now. I hope I’m not too late.
OMG YES! I have hug crush on him back in the day, man was I clueless, but it was 88 I was 16 (please don’t do the math) and I had a crush on every boy, plus he is from my home town so how could you not love him.
He is one of my favorite people on the planet. I should try to get an autographed 8×10 glossy. Do people still do that?
Make one find him and have him sign it if they don’t.
